Real Estate Developers and Investors, Learn About
Development Opportunities in City of Elizabeth
Monday October 20, 2014, Elizabeth, NJ ~ Over 60 real estate developers, investors and small business owners attended an information seminar to learn about loan and incentive programs and development investment opportunities offered by the Elizabeth Development Company. Among those who presented included Mayor Chris Bollwage, City of Elizabeth, and developer, David Gibbons, President of Elberon Development, who spoke about the benefits of working with the EDC and the City of Elizabeth.
The goal of the seminar was to help developers, investors and business owners, learn about opportunities, they may not know about. EDC offers loan and incentive programs for those seeking large to small-scale development opportunities or those who are seeking to improve their facilities, grow their business, upgrade storefronts, or develop real estate properties. Specifically, EDC offers different types of commercial loan programs including commercial loans, working capital, micro-enterprise loans and grants, and loan pool programs. EDC also administers an On-the-Job-Training (OJT) tax incentive program for employers offering job training and apprenticeship opportunities to unemployed residents. EDC helps employers to qualify for wage and/or apprenticeship subsidies. In addition, EDC runs the New Market Tax Credit program, which is a NJ-based economic development tool for developers and investors.
"The Elizabeth Development Company continues to offer valuable programs that enable businesses to improve, grow and succeed throughout our community," said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. "This seminar provided an important forum for individuals to learn about available opportunities, speak with experienced professionals and identify the next steps needed to achieve their goals."
Marcy Metz, EDC’s Chair of the Board of Directors, provided opening remarks to the group. “It is important for EDC to open our doors to more investors and reach as many business owners and developer as we can, so they can learn about opportunities to develop in Elizabeth or take advantage of the many programs we offer that will help them improve their businesses. Today’s seminar reached a really good group of interested people.” Metz is the owner of two businesses; BJ&M Auto, an auto and truck repair shop and licensed inspection facility, and ASISCO, a warehouse distributing company for auto and truck parts.
The seminar was held at the Embassy Suites Elizabeth-Newark Airport, 95 Gilmcher Realty Way, Elizabeth NJ, and was open to all interested investors or business owners.
